3 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech to Erg Chegaga
Early pick up arranged from your accommodation in Marrakech, travelling to Zagora, through the marvellous High Atlas Mountains crossing the Tizi N’Tichka pass, you will enjoy the wonderful views, the landscapes and the Berber villages of the high Atlas Mountains. Your Marrakech to Erg Chegaga 3 days desert trip goes through the famous UNESCO world heritage site, the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, where you will stop for lunch and a walking tour of the historical site to get a hold of its background, as well as how it has been used for many years to shoot so many famous films such as the Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia and much more. You will carry on to Zagora via Draa valley and its endless palm groves. Dinner & overnight in a guesthouse/boutique hotel.
After you have your breakfast, your next destination is one of the wild desert of Morocco; The Erg Chegaga dunes; passing through many more villages, such as Tamgrout where you will stop at its old and famous Koranic Library that previously served as a favourite spot for receiving Koranic and Islamic teaching. Driving along Draa valley heading to Mhamid that marks the last and final village before the desert of Erg Chegaga where your adventure of spending the night inside the big sand dunes in tents starts by riding camels to assist the sunset. Dinner and overnight in tented camp in Erg Chegaga.
After spending the night in tents, you will wake up early in the morning, to climb up one of the surrounding dunes to watch the beautiful sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chegaga. You have your head back to meet up with your driver travelling back to Marrakech through the dried lake of Iriki, Foumguid village and then to Tazenakht that is known for its unique hand made rugs by the local woman, the journey will continue through the high Atlas mountains until your arrive back to Marrakech.
