3 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech to M’hamid
The pick up is arranged from your accommodation in Marrakech, travelling through the famous chain of the Atlas Mountains and crossing the Tizi N Tichka pass. You will be fascinated by the wonderful views of the surrounding landscapes and Berber villages, arriving at the UNESCO world Heritage of the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah where you will enjoy a walking tour to get a hold of its background as well as its history of being one of the most targeted places of shooting many glorious movies such as the Gladiator, Prince of Persia, Lawrence of Arabia… etc. You will pass through Ouarzazate to reach Skoura; A dusty town with beautiful palmary and views over the snowy peaks of the Atlas Mountains. The palmary is home of charming guesthouses and boutique hotels, an ideal place to break your journey before the desert. Dinner & overnight in Skoura.
The journey continues to Erg Lihoudi desert in south eastern Morocco along the Draa Valley, passing by Zagora, where the remains of an Almoravid fortress can still be seen, you will continue to Tamgrout stopping at its old and famous Koranic library that previously served as a favourite spot for receiving Koranic and Islamic teaching, you can also visit the underground village and the pottery ovens. The next destination will be Mhamid that marks the last and final village before starting the camel ride in Ouled Driss and head to the desert of Erg Lihoudi. Once you arrive to camp in the middle of the dunes, you will be welcomed with a cup of tea. Dinner, entertainment and overnight in nomad tented camp.
You will wake up early in the morning and climb to watch the beautiful views of the sunrise over the sand dunes surrounding the camp. Then have breakfast and ride camels back to meet up with your driver heading back to Marrakech, you will cross the Tizi N’Tichka pass again to reach Marrakech where your 3 days desert tour to Erg Lihoudi ends.
